As an artist, I am constantly in search of the beauty and poetry that exists within our everyday lives. Inspired by Mary Cassatt and Maria Sibylla Merian, I strive to capture the essence of these overlooked moments, and meaningful still-lifes of Dutch painters give me a sense of the importance of simple things that surround us.
My artistic process begins with observing the world around me with a discerning eye, looking for the fragmentary passages that are often unnoticed but are present all around us. By stitching together small details, shades of colors, and a variety of different patterns, I create a story from these moments. My work is a reflection of my own experiences and thoughts, as well as an attempt to understand the relationships between objects and their characteristics.
Watercolor is my preferred medium because it brings a sense of unpredictability and transience to my work, much like the ever-changing nature of life. Each stroke of the brush adds another layer to my artistic vision, creating an ongoing narrative that is part of a larger work.
Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to invite others to see the world around them in a new way, and to appreciate the beauty that exists in the in-between spaces of our lives. Through my art, I hope to connect with others and create a dialogue about the value of slowing down, being present, and appreciating the world around us.
